I have been wanting to read a book by James Lee Burke for some time now. Wayfaring Stranger is my first exposure to the author's work. I love his lyrical style of writing rich with description that transported me to the post WWII South. My first encounter of listening to Will Patton, the narrator of the audiobook that I listened to, was The Raven Boys. Just gathering my thoughts into something more coherent than the initial WOW. Ok, so once again I picked the book by its cover, it is an attractive cover. I was aware of Burke as a fairly prolific author in mystery genre, I think I might have seen a Tommy Lee Jones (who actually resembles the author) in a film adaptation of Burke's novel. Wouldn't have picked up a book just based on those two factors, though. As a northerner I have a reasonable amount of distaste for the south (Texas especially)
