Criticism Of Books Attack of the Fiend (The Last Apprentice / Wardstone Chronicles #4)
The Spook's Battle, the fourth book in The Wardstone Chronicles, was action packed and fast paced, whilst still being very plot driven and fun to read. In saying that, it still fell short of the 4 star rating that I gave the other books, as I wasn't completely absorbed as I had been before. However, the 3 stars I've given it is considered a high 3.The cover was really creepy and mirrors what the story tells within, because pretty much from the first few pages I was over come with a feeling of

Still my favourite middle grade series so far. Totally up there with The Ranger's Apprentice series.I love that the characters are real, but more than that, the author takes the time to explain the 14 year old Tom's thought processes which is unnecessary in adult books, but PERFECT for this audience. It really allows young readers to understand the complexities of his decisions and the morals and ethics behind it, without being preachy.Plus there are witches and boggarts and creepy stuff which

This is the 4th book in the Last Apprentice series by Joseph Delaney. Wow was this an excellent book! After hearing over and over about how bad things are in Pindle; Tom and the Spook are finally going to go there to deal with the witch problem for good. Alice is along to help them, using all her witchy knowledge for good. Nothing goes as planned though when the witches strike first at the place Tom is most vulnerable. Will they be able to root out all the witches? Will the witches raise the

What another fun book in the series! Really enjoyed Tom's adventure and, of course, Alice and the Spook never disappoint either. I liked how Tom finds out more about who his mam truly is and he meets his two aunts....and of course, I cannot wait for the next book so I can continue in his adventures as he helps rid the world of supernatural evils.

I'm really enjoying reading through this series. I enjoyed this one a little less than the previous one but still a great read.

7.5/10Another enjoyable outing in this series which keeps on impressing. This is the fourth in the series and each one has been consistently good. The only negative I could say is that there hasnt been a great deal of character development throughout but for the type of books these are and the audience they are aimed at (i.e. not me) you cant really knock it. They seem to follow a similar formula in each one but if it aint broke dont fix it.The stakes are raised somewhat in this outing with Tom,

SPOILER FREEThis book is the perfect example of childrens fantasy being able to accomplish something epic! When I was first reading these books as a kid, this was always my favourite. So much happens! We follow Thomas, Alice, and the Spook to Pendle, and as we all know, Pendle is crawling with witches. The set up of the three clans, the map of Pendle, and the influx of new characters and creatures is outstanding. Reading about the inter-clan politics and learning about new creatures, lore, and
