Description As Books Criminal (Will Trent #6)
Will Trent is a brilliant agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Newly in love, he is beginning to put a difficult past behind him. Then a local college student goes missing, and Will is inexplicably kept off the case by his supervisor and mentor, deputy director Amanda Wagner. Will cannot fathom Amanda’s motivation until the two of them literally collide in an abandoned orphanage they have both been drawn to for different reasons. Decades before, when his father was imprisoned for murder, this was Will’s home. It appears that the case that launched Amanda’s career forty years ago has suddenly come back to life—and it involves the long-held mystery of Will’s birth and parentage. Now these two dauntless investigators will each need to face down demons from the past if they are to prevent an even greater terror from being unleashed.Rating Containing Books Criminal (Will Trent #6)

I love Karin Slaughter's books and her characters. I was excited to receive this book before the date of publication. This book focuses on way too many storylines and characters:1. We have Will Trent, who is still married to Angie, still in love with Sara, still in angst over his childhood.2. We have Faith's mom, Evelyn Mitchell, and Amanda Wagner, Will's boos. Both are featured in present-day chapters as well as flashbacks to 1975. 3. We have five prostitutes who have disappeared or wereWow! Just freaking WOW! This book took all the loose ends from the past Will Trent mysteries and tied them together, giving us a full picture of Will and his past, Amanda and hers. If you haven't read any of the Will Trent mysteries, you don't have to read them in order, but it helps. In Criminal, we have two timelines going on. One follows a string of bruuuuuutal murders in 1975, and another occuring in the present day. I won't go into details to spoil the story, but I had to take breaks with
Speeding along in this series and I have now completed book five!! This book predominantly focuses on Will and Amanda and their back stories. The advantage of reading a series back to back is that I have been completely able to submerge myself into the characters with no need for refreshes. The book flips between timeframes as we delve into Amanda's early career and today's events as it becomes clear that cases are past and present are bearing a stark similarity. As always Slaughter weaves a
4 Stars. The Past Never Stays in the Past..Will Trents past has been kept tightly under wraps. Lock and Key actually. He remembers it though he hardly ever talks about it. It turns out he has his reasons. Wills father has been in prison for his entire life. Till now. Unfortunately for Will, his boss Amanda Wagner kept that little fact from him. He discovers it for himself when he turns on the news and discovers that a young college girl has gone missing and when he is kept from investigating the
Loved this one!! It took me forever to read it- but only due to personal circumstances. I may come back with a full review later. Right now though- I'm moving on to Unseen.
Slaughter needs to rethink the series going forward. I had many problems getting through this book. 1. The actual criminal plot takes forever to get moving. Too much of the first half is devoted to the ongoing personal sagas that are pretty much identical for each character as in earlier novels (e.g. Will's inability to articulate or share problems with Sarah, Will's dyslexia, Will's absurd attachment to his witch of an ex-wife). It's like a broken record. A good police thriller should at least
If you're a fan of the gang from Atlanta, you'll have to read this. It tells about the history of Will, his boss at the GBI Amanda, his partner's mother and Amanda's friend Evelyn, not to mention Will's mother, father, and uncle. The story takes place during several timelines, one of which is "the present". It gets confusing at times, especially with an audiobook, and takes a little getting used to. There is the ever ongoing backstory of the evolving (and devolving) of the romance between Will
