Narration As Books Maximum Ride, Vol. 2 (Maximum Ride: The Manga #2)
The first volume in this manga series adapts half of the first book in the Maximum Ride series, while this second volume adapts the second half, so the rest of the first book. I actually preferred the first volume to this, although only by a half-star, because I enjoyed the first half of the novel best, the one in which the characters were presented and the kidnapping happened—I just felt like things were more exciting. But this is very good too. It’s still action-packed—that definitely hasn’t changed, and I found myself admiring the backgrounds of New York City. There are many scenes I couldn’t wait to get to, such as the one with Celeste, at the sea and at the Institute, which didn’t end up disappointing me. Like the book, it’s confusing. Or maybe I should say strange. Because now that Max hears voices in her head, we have more questions for the author. What the hell is happening? Who is speaking to her and how? And really, how is she supposed to save the world? I noticed the dialog isn’t divided evenly between the six angels, but I guess the author doesn’t have that much of a choice since it’s a manga and dialog is very precious in them. We can’t add dialog if it doesn’t contribute to the story in any salient way. Plus no one has time for chitchat, important things are at stake! Great sequel. I can’t wait to know more. I simply devoured this! One of my favourite series as a graphic novel, I was straight down to my library to borrow it, and it certainly did not disappoint. I LOVE the covers in the graphic novel series, they truly capture the description James Patterson provided of our protagonists; just look at them all:I feel they truly add a magical touch to the novels! This will be a review purely based on the graphic novel and not the story of which I will be writing reviews for soon. The images reallyDefinitely my favorite manga of the series so far, wish they wouldn't have screwed with the part where Max nearly gets kidnapped by that eraser and then he expires. But it wasn't too bad there. Then again if it were exactly the same there'd be no point in buying both really. It's like two stories told in different colors. If I had to choose id definitely pick a manga over the actual book. Why? Because for some odd reason James Patterson's writing style is somewhat irritating to me. All I ever
