Ironhand's Daughter (The Hawk Queen #1)
David Gemmell books are all a bit similar although this one, the first part of a series, is possibly a bit better with fewer battles. The main character, Sigarni, a huntress, finds herself propelled into a position of importance as an enemy threatens the Highlands in which she lives. Mystical forces are also at work and play an important part.Gemmell fans should enjoy this and, as fantasy books go, this one is not bad at all but I won't be bothering with rest of the series.
This is Gemmell at his best , great characters, fast paced storyline

Another great read from Gemmell.
Have read nearly all of David Gemmell's books and this has been as enjoyable as all the others. Loved the story and the characters. Bought this as a combined book with both Hawk stories in it, having a break before I read the second but won't be for long.
There was no change of heart. I left his head on a spike, and I burned his home to the ground. It was a grand fire, which burned bright and lit the sky for many a mile. It also lit men's hearts, and that fire burned for thirty years. What an easy read! If you are looking for a page-turner, a classic tale of the good forces fighting overwhelming evil invaders, you have found what youve been looking for. The Ironhands Daughter tells a story of Sigarni the Huntress of the Highland people. At
In Ironhands Daughter, David Gemmell begins a stunning new series, chronicling the lives of characters who live and die by the sword and the arrow, and introducing, in Signari, one of his most memorable figures.Gemmell has for many years been the master of heroic fantasy/warfare epics and Ironhands Daughter marks an attempt to try something different: a story with a female lead. Happily, Gemmells novel pays off, with the author once again delivering a hugely readable (make that

Commentary To Books Ironhand's Daughter (The Hawk Queen #1)
The armies of the Outlanders crushed the highlanders at the battle of Colden Moor–killing their finest warriors and breaking their freeborn spirit. The highlanders are now a conquered people, ruled by the brutal Baron Gottasson. Prophecies speak of the coming of a new leader, a descendent of Ironhand, mightiest of the highland kings. A leader who will throw off the Outlander yoke. But only one highlander carries the blood of Ironhand: Sigarni, a wild and willful teenage girl who cares for nothing save her own concerns. Until a fateful encounter thrusts her onto a path of rebellion. Now, hunted by the baron’s soldiers and stalked by an evil sorcerer, Sigarni will be forced to fulfill her destiny . . . or perish.Present Books As Ironhand's Daughter (The Hawk Queen #1)
