Narration Concering Books Untamed (House of Night #4)
I like the general story line and the characters, but the redundant writing is getting a little old. Constant vocabulary lessons from Damien, the author describes everyone over and over again, everything from their personalities to their day to day clothing choices. Everytime the Grandmother speaks she calls Zoey the Cherokee word for daughter and every single time the author explains that the word makes her feel safe. There is a whole lot of explaining and back story and description and really not a whole lot of story, plot, character development or emotion. It's a good story idea, but not very well executed. Also, has anyone ever noticed that Zoey falls in love/lust with any cute single guy that walks into her path? These authors definitely need to take that writing instruction that everyone learned in grade school..."Show, don't tell."

2.5 "Well, this is getting old" stars...So much potential...Things have gotten bad for Zoey Redbird in Untamed, book 4 of the House of Night series. In one week she has gone from having 3 boyfriends to none and from having a trusted group of friends to being an outcast. From the cover: "Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light and an ancient evil is awakened."My thoughts...Meh. Same ol', same ol'This is by no means a good series. The writing isnt good and has a lot of really iffy offensive things about it. I genuinely hadnt heard or remembered the word skank since I was a teenager. The nostalgia has gotten me this far, and book 5 becomes the first one I cant remember if Ive read or not. I think I have, but If I have its the last one. I dont love where the series has gone, but Im eager to see where it goes.
OK. So this book is horribly written. It seems a 12 yo wrote it. I think the other books in this series are pretty good and I was so excited when I ordered it from my local bookstore. I read the first 3 pages and almost throw up. I really don't want to finish the book at all. I understand that the authors of this book are not the best but they could have done a much better job writing this book.

It's a good thing these teen vampire dramas take only a couple of hours to read. I've read the first four of this series and each one made me vomit in my mouth just a little more. Seriously. I know, you're asking why I have read 4 if the first one made me throw up even just a little. Well, it's a funny thing, I'd rather stick a book out on the off chance that the ending makes the whole thing worth it, than never know if the ending made the whole thing worth it. Now mind you, the
Zoey Redbird just got dropped like a hot potato by her friends in the fourth installment of The House of Night. They feel betrayed and lied to and are not that fond of Zoey. She had guys coming out of the wood work to be with her. Thats not the case anymore. Zoey is feeling very lonely and her only two friends are nasty Aphrodite and suppose to be dead Stevie Rae. As she is dealing with this, the beloved high priestess of the school, Neferet, is trying to start a war with the humans. Zoey knows
Okay, even though I haven't been a teen for a couple of years (uhm, make that over a decade), I'm a HUGE fan of the House of Night series. (Rather obvious, considering I bought it on the date of its release) Marked, Betrayed and Chosen were superb! That said, I really enjoyed Untamed, but if I had to order the books according to preference - it'd be fourth on my list. I eagerly await Hunted. And the twists and turns I anticipate (and can't even imagine) will result from the events in Untamed.
These books really arent half bad, might even give this one a 3.5! The story is interesting at the minute and Im kinda a fan, its pretty creative. My only proper gripe is the repetitiveness of the writing. Its always _____ said over and over! Think Im noticing it more bc Im borrowing the audiobooks from my library but its a bit annoying. Also the fact every book has to explain basic things you know if you read the other ones...other than that Ill probably keep reading this series
