I hunted down a copy of this for a monthly read of the English Mysteries Goodreads group; I'd never read any of the Midsomer Murders novels before, and somehow never even saw any of the PBS Mystery! series made from them, so it was all new and different. (Really, though, I don't know how I managed to miss these all these years.) I love the Midsomer Murders TV series (I've probably seen every episode), so I'm not sure why I've never read any of the books that the series was based on. Surprisingly there are only seven of them. I found out about this book series when I started watching Midsomer Murders on Netflix (which, by the way, is an excellent show!). And you know what? I think the book is just as good as the series. The things I like more about the series balance out with the things I like better in the book and it's just kinda fun.
